We know having a social life in addiction recovery is not the easiest thing to do. It takes planning, and sometimes a little creativity. We’ve compiled a list of some current events in the Atlanta-area this month to help make sure that your sobriety doesn’t put a damper on your social calendar.

The Atlanta Film FestivalThis Academy Award qualifying festival is one of the largest in the Southeast. Enjoy independent, animated, documentary, and short films alongside nearly 20,000 people who attend this event.

2015 Publix Georgia MarathonA marathon, half-marathon, and a Luckie 5k will take place. And whether you plan on walking or running, we can’t stress enough how important physical activity is to keeping a recovery strong.

Atlanta Hawks vs. The San Antonio Spurs – Up for some competition? Head over to the Philips Arena for some basketball. (Be cautious if sporting events could act as a trigger for your drug, alcohol or gambling addiction, especially if you are new to recovery).

Roob and Noob – Need something to do as a family? Try the Roob and Noob show. These two curious scientists put on quite a theatrical performance.

College Park Restaurant Week – Enjoy a nine-day culinary showcase of a variety of local restaurants for lunch or dinner.

Make art with Marcus Neustetter – Join the artist-in-residence at Emory University for collaborative art activities using light and learn more about his featured work Chasing Light.
