It’s Alcohol Awareness Month. Learn how to stop drinking in Atlanta with these three steps: Decide, Devise, and Detox!
Atlanta can be a difficult place to find sobriety. There is so much happening all the time, and so much of it involves drinking. Falcons or Hawks fan? Or maybe it’s happy hour or dinning out with wine in Buckhead or Atlantic Station? Maybe Virginia-Highland that’s more your speed? Beerfests, music shows, you name it, Atlanta’s got it. It can be difficult to figure out how to navigate a social life once you’re ready for recovery. Many worry how they will ever stop drinking in Atlanta with its extensive social scene and night life? Don’t worry. The great thing about Atlanta is that there are so many great things to do that don’t involve drinking or that you can still take part in sans alcohol. Your social life might need some readjustment but it will be far from over. So if you think you are ready to stop drinking, let’s break it down and tackle it. Decide, Devise, Detox!
Decide you need some help:
People enter into recovery programs at all different periods of their drinking problem. When your habits become unmanageable for you, your family or your career, then it’s time to seek the advise of someone who can help you get it under control. You need to decide for your self that you are ready to make this change. Take this Alcohol quiz to see if maybe that time is now for you.
Devise a plan with a specialist:
Some people know what they want right from the start – they know what’s going to work for them. But as we say often, recovery isn’t one size fits all. What works for someone might not work for you, and that’s ok. The important thing not to do is try one thing, say nope not for me, and walk away from the idea of being sober. We recommend that you sit down with a specialist and devise a plan. Figure out what areas of your life you need to target to get the situation under control. Then learn what type of treatment options are available (there are many!) that are the most conducive to your schedule and life.
Here are some examples of the more popular ones:
Begin Recovery (online AA meetings), Executive/Life coaching, Individual/Group Therapy, Smart Recovery (online 12-step), Local meetings, integrative functional medicine (to address co-occuring/underlying issues), sober companions, intervention, and more.
Detox with NTR:
There is a noticeable difference in those that start their recovery detoxing with NTR Brain Restoration and those that don’t. Detoxing with NTR is a great entry point into your recovery process. It safely and naturally supports your body during detox, while initiating repair of the brain and its chemicals. It minimizes withdrawal symptoms, restores clarity of mind, decreases stress, anxiety and depression, and increases optimism. All of this make you better prepared for the recovery path you choose. The biggest advantage that NTR gives you, is it helps get cravings under control. Cravings are the #1 reason for relapse. If you want more than just a sober life, if you want a successful life in recovery that is social and rewarding, cravings need to be under control.
